Raw, Log and Uncompressed:
It seems that every day we hear about a new camera that shoots Raw or has a special Log recording mode. Plus there are a number of different “Uncompressed” recorders out there as well. Consider the Arri Alexa – it offers a Log mode that can be recorded in ProRes or output over HD-SDI in an uncompressed format. Additionally, it can send out a Raw signal to special Raw recording devices. These terms aren’t new but they can certainly be a bit confusing.
