Understanding Log Grading

Understanding Log Grading:
In the last post, we discussed what log is and why it’s used in digital cinematography cameras. Now we’re going to look at exactly how it’s implemented and what you should know about how to deal with log coded images.
The easiest way to explain what’s going on is to do it graphically. If we take a “standard” image, one that looks proper to the eye, and plot the input values along an “x” axis and the output values along the “y” axis, the input values would equal the output values, creating a straight line on the graph.
