Creative COW published a tutorial video which demonstrates how to set up an iPad with the AC-7 Core app to control Final Cut Pro.
After downloading and starting the app you will see that it looks similar to a dedicated Final Cut Pro controller. This control surface app takes advantage of iOS 4.2’s support for CoreMIDI. As result you get controller modes for all the major DAWs plus a generic setting for other software. What's also worth mentioning is that the software is not only compatible with FCP but also with many other suites which support MIDI controllers - such as Apple's Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Sony Vegas/Acid Pro or Adobe Audition. The app works without additional server software on OS X "Tiger" and above.
In order to make it work with FCP in AC-7 you need to tap on the "mode" icon and change the setting to "FInal Cut Mode". Then go to the audio MIDI setup on your computer (which you will find in MIDI Studio) where you will be able to connect your iPad to your Mac. Check out the tutorial video where you will be able to see all the steps required to synchronize your iPad with FCP.
You can download the application here and here you'll find the tutorial video.
